Timestamping/Fluid Time Explanation
Timestamping, or simply posting the date and time (for the characters. Not you) before the start of a thread is an easy practice that makes things flow much more smoothly. For example, say I’m going to start a thread with Laetel. The beginning of my FIRST post would read something like this:
July 1st
11:38 PM
Rustling his coat, the dark-haired Gryffite…
You get the idea. This makes it much easier for you to follow exactly when your characters are doing what, which can help you in describing your setting. We allow you to be “in two places” at once, per se. That means that you can do a thread on the date July 7th while you have one for July 3rd in progress. That doesn’t mean you can have two threads on July 7th, at the same time period in different locations. You have to remember that each thread/experience should effect your character in some way.
As mentioned before, you can work on RPs from different time periods at once. This is called fluid time, and it makes thing a little less boring around here. I stress that each thread should effect its fellow proceeding ones. If your character gets horribly injured in a thread on July 3rd, she/he should still have that injury in a thread on the next day, unless they have healing abilities.
Time journals help us keep these things straight. Once you have been accepted, post a time journal thread in the Time Journals board. This allows other players to see what days you are “free,” and help you keep track of what you’re doing. A typical time journal lists the days for that week with RP Thread titles under those days, like this:
7/4
“Under the Big Top”
Status: active
Brief summary
Once again, if you have any questions PM Officer Laetel or Ringmaster Adrien.
