THE RULES
_________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________
001. Don't start RPing until your character is accepted.
002. Be nice to everyone in the general board and PMs. Your characters can be as mean as you want though.
003. No killing another's character without permission.
004. Don't double post.
005. Absolutely NO explicit links or pictures. You WILL be banned!
006. No racial slurs.
007. No Godmodding or powerplaying. No one is perfect.
008. Use proper grammar and spelling. This isn't YIM, AIM, or MSN. PROOFREAD your threads before you post them, even if it's just to make sure they make sense. There are things that spell check will not pick up, such as word omissions, homonyms (words that sound the same, but are spelled differently), verb tense consistency, and ect. It's a good idea to write a post in Word pad or Microsoft Word first, both to keep these things in mind, AND in case you're stupid like Laetel is and accidentally hit the "back" button while writing...
009. Have at least a paragraph (5-7 lines) in a post when you RP. One or two lines is surely not enough and doesn't help since the other people you role play with won't have any ideas on what to post. Get creative! If you post any less, you WILL be asked to redo your post.
010. When RPing, if there are MORE than two people, try to post in a round. For example if Jim, Bob, and Sandy were RPing together, Jim would post first, then Bob, then Sandy and it would repeat over and over and no one would post out of turn. That way the story won't get out of hand. Make sure the first person to start the thread posts the posting order, updating it if someone leaves the thread or joins.
011. Although some of the action in the posts can get a little graphic, we don't want anything in a post to go over an R rating. Violence is a given here. After all, the Circo de Anima is translated into the Circus of Blood. Sex scenes are okay as long as they don't get too explicit or out of hand. Cuss as much as you want in thread but we don't want to see a cuss every other word. That's just ridiculous.
012. Also if there is a post that says *insert title here* (*insert name here*), the parentheses means that only this person is allowed to reply. If you want to join one of these posts and you are not allowed to reply, please PM one of the members who IS in that closed RP. If you post in a place where you're not allowed, your post will be deleted. If it says (Open), anyone is allowed to join. If it does not say anything, ask the creator if you wish to join.
013. Icons are required but signatures are not. Signatures must be a reasonable size. If your signature or icon is too large, expect a message from one of the admins. No nudity, this will result in immediate deletion of the signature or icon. If you need help finding an icon, feel free to ask us. Laetel's note: the site actually won't let your icon exceed 100 x 100 pixels. Sad, I know. Keep this in mind when choosing one.
014. Plagiarism will absolutely not be tolerated. Your post/app will be deleted and you will be given a warning. If it happens more than once, you will be banned.
015. If you are using another artist's work in ANY way, signatures, playbys, ect, ASK THEIR PERMISSION before doing so. Even stock photographers have policies on how their work is to be used, and some don't like them to be used off-site. It's common courteousy. Respect the artist's wishes if they say no. If you don't know who the artist is, at least don't claim it as your own.
016. If you have a personal problem with another member or members, take it to either Laetel or Adrien. Do not post a thread about it. No public bashing will be tolerated.
017. Try to post at least once a week, even if it's just a paragraph in one thread. We like to keep the site active, though we understand that real life takes precedence on all accounts.
018. Handle constructive criticism gracefully. You're bound to get it in the writing world, and if you plan on being a writer of skill, you need to pay attention to it. It makes your work better, trust us. However, there is a difference between con. crit and bashing. Keep this in mind. Saying "I think your character needs a few more flaws/should be older/needs a more detailed backstory" is NOT the same as "Your character sucks, go die."
019. Put some time into your character when creating them. We can tell the difference between apps that have just been rattled off and ones that have been carefully thought out.
020. Don't harass the Admins about looking at your pending app. We try to get to them as soon as we can, but sometimes real life intervenes. Adrien is in high school, and Laetel is a full-time college student with a job, so sometimes we can get busy. It is, however, okay to ask if your app has been sitting there for a week.
021. Have fun, and get creative!
